Short Link:
At 1:30pm on Saturday, 8 April 2017, Raed Awad Al Nabahin, 43-year old father of five children from Burij refugee camp, was announced dead by doctors at Al Rantisi Hospital in Gaza city. Al Nabahin suffered from lymph nodes cancer, with which he had been diagnosed in December 2015 at Al Shifa Hospital. Al Nabahin always received his treatment in hospitals in Gaza. On 28 August 2016, he got Israeli permission to cross to Jerusalem to receive treatment in Augusta Victoria Hospital, and he returned to Gaza on 8 February 2017. Later, he re-applied for Israeli permission to cross again, but now his application remained pending, “under security consideration”, a status shown on 25 February 2017 and on 15 March 2017. With his health deteriorating dramatically, he lost his life on 8 August 2017, just four days before Israeli authorities processed his application and issued the permit, on 12 April 2017.
