At 1:00pm on Friday, 23 February 2018, Israeli forces located near the Nahal Oz crossing on the eastern borders of Shujayya opened fire at unarmed protesters, including adults and children, joining a popular demonstration in eastern Gaza city. The demonstration was held in protest of the latest U.S. decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Six protesters were injured due to Israeli forces’ use of rubber bullets, live ammunition and tear-gas canisters; their injuries ranged from moderate to serious. Israeli forces kept shooting at protesters until 6:00pm on the same day
