Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) prevented the entry of 410,200 school books to enter the Gaza Strip. The books were printed in Ramallah and were supposed to enter Gaza on Friday 26 August 2016.
According to Al Mezan’s field information, the books are the following: First grade: Activities’ notebook, Second grade: Activities’ notebook and Math, Third grade: Math and Science.
According to the undersecretary of the Ministry of Education in Ramallah, Mr. Nasri Saleh, he affirmed that there are efforts made by the Ministry and UNRWA to obtain the permission from IOF to enter the books to Gaza. He added, %90 of the books were printed in Gaza, while only %10 were printed in Ramallah. It’s noteworthy that the ministry decided to print these books in Ramallah inorder to deliver them to students at the beginning of the semester, which started on Sunday 28 August 2016.
