At approximately 6:40 am on Wednesday, 8 June 2016, Israeli gunboats opened fire at Palestinian fishing boats off the coast of Al Waha area western Beit Lahyia, North Gaza district and arrested three fishermen; who were on the board of a small boat. Al Mezan identified their names as follows: Khalil Mohsen Khalil Abu Riyala,21; and his two brothers Shaher,19و and Mohammed, 18, residents of Al Shatee’ refugee camp in Gaza City. According to Al Mezan’s field investigations, Israeli gunboats pursued the Palestinian boat while it was about five nautical miles away from the coast and about 2,800 meters far from the northern illuminated buoys. The fishermen were working in the Israeli allowed fishing zone western Al Waha area when the Israeli gunboats surrounded the boat. The Israeli forces ordered fishermen on board to take off their clothes and to swim toward one of the Israeli boats and then arrested them. The Israeli forces then opened fire at their boat and drown it. The Israeli boats then sailed to the west wards. . There is information about injuring one of the detained fishermen, but it has not been confirmed until publishing this piece of news.
