IOF Closes Erez Crossing Several Days Due to Jewish Holidays

In the evening hours on Monday 14 April 2014, Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) totally closed Erez crossing and informed the coordination office of the Palestinian civil affairs in advance.
On Monday, the Crossing was just opened for people to enter Gaza until 1:00 pm and it was completely closed on Tuesday 15 April 2014.
While on Wednesday and Thursday 16-17 April 2014, the Crossing was partially opened, from 8:00 am until 1:00 pm for travellers and opened the whole day until 7:00 pm for people to return to Gaza.
For patients, it was only opened on Friday 18 April 2014 and Sunday 20 April 2014, from 8:00 am until 1:00 pm and for people to return to Gaza until 3:00 pm in the evening on the same two days.
Whereas it was completely closed on Sunday 19 April 2014 and Monday 21 April 2014.
It was supposed to open normally on Tuesday morning 22 April 2014, but IOF closed it completely, and the closure continued on Wednesday 23 April 2014.
According to Al Mezan’s filed investigations, the closure comes according to the Jewish holidays, but the sudden closure on Tuesday and Wednesday was for unclear reasons which are likely to be for the comprehensive punishment for the people of the Gaza Strip.
Tens of patients, humanitarian needs, traders and foreigners were hindered from entering and patients will have to wait for new hospitals’ appointments and new permission.
