Palestinian Patient Dies as Israeli Prevents Him from Leaving Gaza via Erez Crossing

At approximately 5:00 pm on Saturday 16 November 2013, medical sources at Al Aqsa hospital in Deir Al Balah announced the death of Fadi Ali Hassan Al Qatshan, 26, a resident of An-Nuseirat refugee camp.
In their affidavit to Al Mezan, the family of the Al Qashtan stated that their son did some medical tests in Gaza hospitals in 2009, after he felt pain in his stomach, and entered the intensive care unit for several days in the Al-Aqsa hospital in Deir al-Balah.
Doctors couldn’t identify his disease.
In 13 December 2012, he was referred to Al Maqased hospital in Jerusalem and stayed there for several weeks where he was tested.
Then he was referred to Al Mezan hospital in Hebron where his disease was diagnosed as a blockage in the main arteries.
He wasn’t subjected to any surgery fearing for his life.
Then he was referred to Thabet Thabet hospital in Tolkarm and then to Tal Hashomeer hospital in Israel, where he underwent two surgeries for heart stent during May 2013.
Doctors asked him to return to the Gaza Strip and to follow up with the hospital after a month.
In 2 July 2013, he submitted a request to the Department of Coordination and Liaison Administration for permission to pass from the Gaza Strip into Israel, and the request was declined.
He submitted again in 27 August 2013 and in 9 November 2013, but he didn’t get the permission.
He renewed the reservation of the hospital for 6 January 2014.
But in 16 November 2013 he felt very tired and referred to Al Aqsa hospital where he pronounced dead.
