Short Link:
In the morning hours of Friday, May 17th 2013, Egyptian workers at the Rafah border crossing in southern Gaza closed the border in response to the abduction of seven Egyptian soldiers, including four security personnel.
The soldiers were abducted in the Sinai by unidentified groups on May 16th.
The border has not been reopened and travelers on both sides are prevented from passing.
The closure of the Rafah crossing affects many Palestinians, especially those of humanitarian cases where patients need to be transferred for treatment to hospitals outside the Gaza Strip.
