At approximately 2:20 pm on Friday 9 December 2011, the sound of an explosion was heard in Beit Hanoun.
It later became clear that a locally made rocket had hit the roof of a classroom of UNRWA’s Beit Hanoun Girls’ School.
The school is about 2,500 meters away from the separation fence on Khalil Al Wazeer street in the north of Beit Hanoun, North Gaza district.
As a result, the classroom, which is located on the second floor, was severely damaged; the rest of the school was partially damaged.
The school is located among several other UNRWA schools and near to an UNWRA clinic, northeast of Beit Hanoun hospital.
