On Thursday evening, 30 October 2008, PM Ismael Haniya ordered the Gaza police to release 17 political prisoners, including 7 leaders of Fateh, after three months of detention. Prisoners' release was an attempt to support the Cairo dialogue between Fateh and Hamas. The freed leaders are Jamal Obeid, Mahir Abu Harbid, Abdelaziz al-Maqadma, Kamal Abdelnabi, Abdallah Ashanat, Muhammad Adel el-Masri and Jamal Zayed.
