On Thursday, 25 February 2016, Al Mezan Center for Human Rights (Al Mezan) held an educational meeting, entitled “Women Rights in Palestinian Legislations”, for 18 of the mothers of students at Jabaliya Preparatory School for Girls.
The meeting was held at the school, where the teacher of human rights, Lubna Mansour, opened the meeting by welcoming Al Mezan’s lawyer, Alaa Skafi, and the participants. Mrs. Lubna asserted that the school organized the meeting to raise awareness of women’s rights in Palestinian legislation for the mothers of students. She thanked Al Mezan for implementing such meetings.
Mr. Alskafi gave an overview about Al Mezan, our activities, and the role the organization plays in protecting and promoting human rights in the occupied Palestinian territory. He then addressed basic rights under Palestinian Basic Law; Public Elections Law; women’s participation in local councils; women rights under Palestinian Labor Law; women educational rights under the Education Law; job guarantees under the Civil Service Law; and women’s to health. The participating women showed interest in the workshop.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Alaa Skafi thanked the school administration for enabling the students’ families to participate in such a meeting.
The meeting is part of series of activates organized by Al Mezan to promote human rights in the Gaza Strip.
