On Sunday 1 April 2012, the Al Mezan Center for Human Rights opened an educational workshop titled “Juvenile Justice under National Law and International Conventions,” held at Tal As-Sultan Preparatory School for Girls.
About 45 teachers, parents, and students participated in the workshop.
This workshop constitutes one component of the “Enhancing Legal Aid for Victims of Human Rights Violations in the Gaza Strip” project, implemented by Al Mezan with support from the United Nations Development Program - Program of Assistance to the Palestinian People (UNDP/PAPP, Rule of Law Program).
Yihya Muhareb, a project lawyer, opened the workshop by welcoming the participants, and then gave a brief description of Al Mezan’s work and its activities aiming to promote human rights culture.
The workshop’s content provided participants with an introduction to various topics relating to juvenile justice, the situation of children in conflict with the law, and their protection under both Palestinian national and international law.
