At approximately 18:50 on Tuesday, 6 December 2011, medical sources at Abu Yousif An-Najjar Hospital announced the injury of four persons as they fell down a tunnel shaft, about 20 meters high, on the Gaza-Egypt border near Rabea’ Al ‘Adawiya Secondary School in Rafah.
Al Mezan identified the names of the injured persons as follows: · Faisal Mohammed Ismail Zu’rub, 15; · Fat’hi Khader ‘Aqla, 19; · Abdullah Abed Rabbo Al Mgheer, 41; and · Azmi Mohammed Barhoum, 40.
According to Al Mezan’s field investigations, the four persons were injured when the pulley line disconnected inside the tunnel they were working in.
Defence teams recovered the workers.
Medical sources at Abu Yousif An-Najjar Hospital described their injury as moderate as they sustained fractures in different parts of their bodies.
