At approximately 17:00 on Friday, 18 November 2011, medical sources at the Gaza European Hospital announced the death of Salama Nafez Abu Hammad, 19, due to an electric shock.
Abu Hammad, from Khan Younis, was working inside a tunnel under the Al Brazil neighborhood in the south of Rafah on the Gaza-Egypt border when he was electrified.
