Yesterday, 13 May 2002, evening a group of masked persons attacked Hasan Asfour, Minister of Nongovernmental Organizations’ Affairs near his house in Ramallah, West Bank.
Wounded of fractures and cuts, Mr.
Asfour and his bodyguard were taken to Shaikh Zayid Hospital in Ramallah, where he is being taken care of.
Al Mezan Center for Human Rights condemns the assault on Minister Asfour, especially at this particular time as the Israeli occupation forces are perpetrating crimes against the Palestinian people.
The Center views the assault as a dangerous impingement of the Rule of Law and calls upon the Palestinian Police to immediately investigate the incidents and bring its perpetrators to justice.
