7:45am on Wednesday 10 November 2010, the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) opened fire at a group of Palestinian civilians as they were collecting scrap and rubble from the destroyed structures near the border fence between Gaza and Israel.
The group was about 200 meters from the border fence near the Erez crossing in the North Gaza district when IOF fired at them.
As a result, Ibrahim Yousif Ibrahim Ghaben, 28, was injured in the right leg, causing a fracture.
Medical sources at Kamal Odwan Hospital described his injuries as severe.
The civilians were terrified and left the area without finishing their work.
According to Al Mezan's field investigations, the civilians carried Ghaben on a donkey driven cart to the Palestinian Liaison Office at Erez crossing because the area of attack is close to the border fence and roads are unpaved and ambulances can't reach there.
