Internal Security in Gaza Summons 26 Fatah Activists; Confiscates their Passports in North Gaza District

In the evening hours on Tuesday 5 October 2010, the internal security apparatus in Gaza summoned 26 activists from Fatah and other Palestinian factions and officers at the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) security apparatuses in North Gaza district.
The PNA officers are members of apparatuses that have been instructed not to serve in Gaza since Hamas took over the Gaza Strip in June 2007.
They answer to the PNA government in Ramallah.
The internal security asked the summoned persons to bring their passports with them and to present themselves at its office in Jabalia refugee camp on Thursday 7 October 2010.
When they presented themselves at the place and time mentioned, they were not detained as the apparatus office was evacuated due to the risk of Israeli attacks.
The internal security however confiscated their passports and ordered them to present themselves at its office in the morning of Sunday 10 October 2010.
Al Mezan knew the names of the summoned persons as follows: From Beit Hanoun town: ·          Mohammed Abu Odeh, a major general at the PNA political department; ·          Majed Salama Hasan Al Kafarna, a major general at the police (also  member of the Arab Liberation Front); ·          Fawaz Hamad, a colonel at the police;  ·          Mohammed Ali Shabat, a colonel at the police investigation unit; ·          Mohammed Hussein Al Kafarna, a colonel at the national security apparatus; ·          Maher Mohammed Sa'ada, a colonel at the preventative security apparatus; ·          Shehda Mustafa Hamad, a major at the police; ·          Adnan Kamal Ash-Shinbary, a lieutenant general at the preventative security apparatus; ·          Bassam Mahmoud Al Masri; a lieutenant general at the police investigation unit; ·          Shawqi Mahmoud Ahmed Na'eem, a lieutenant general at the police; ·          Mohammed Hussein Shabat, a lieutenant general at the national security apparatus; ·          Hamed Mussa Nseir, officer at the national security apparatus; ·          Merwan Shabat, a Fatah activists; From Jabalia town and refugee camp: ·          Iyad Al Ametal, a Fatah district secretary; ·          Mohammed Nasser, a Fatah district secretary; ·          Ayman Al Majdalawi, a Fatah district secretary; ·          Nasser Al Ametal, a Fatah activist; ·          Jamal Halawa, a Fatah activist; ·          Dr.
Ghassan Abu Warda, a Fatah activist; ·          Mu'taz Abu Warda, a Fatah activist; ·          Mohammed Hosni Abu Shabak, a lieutenant at the preventative security apparatus; ·          Rashad Abu Shabak, a lieutenant general at the preventative security apparatus; ·          Jihad Abu Warda, a lieutenant general at the preventative security apparatus; ·          Saleh Deib, a captain at the preventative security apparatus; ·          Deib Hamouda, a lieutenant general at the police investigation unit; and From Beit Lahiya town: ·          Nazek Al Omari, lieutenant general at the preventative security apparatus.
