9:30pm on Wednesday 19 May 2010, Gaza security apparatus detained Usama Abdel Sattar Al Fara, 49, Khan Younis’s governor and a member of the Fatah revolutionary council.
He was detained while he was in his house in the Al Sheikh Nassir neighborhood.
According to Al Mezan's field investigations, armed men dressed in civilians clothes driving three cars reached the house of Al Fara and identified themselves as members of the Gaza security apparatus.
They took Al Fara to the Annsar military compound in Gaza City.
They detained him in a room and they left him there.
In his affidavit to Al Mezan, Al Fara said the Gaza security apparatus did not interrogated him.
1:30am on Thursday 20 May 2010, they asked Al Fara to phone one of his relative to drive him home.
The reasons behind this detention are unknown.
