At around 14:00 on Friday, 27 December 2019, thousands of women, children and young men, participated in the Great March of Return Demonstration in Khuza’a, east of Khan Younis, at the protests’ designated gathering site located at about 300 meters from the separation fence. Israeli soldiers stationed along the separation fence, behind berms, fired live bullets and launched tear gas canisters at protesters. 14 persons, including 5 children, were wounded by rubber bullets and tear gas canisters. The injured received first aid in the field before being transferred to the European Gaza Hospital and Nasser Hospital to have the appropriate medical treatment. Dozens of other protesters who suffered from tear gas inhalation received the necessary treatment by field-based medical teams. The Israeli shooting continued until 17:00.
