The IOF have killed two Palestinians and injured four, during an intensification of artillery shelling and an imposed siege on the Gaza Strip.
According to Al Mezan's field information, on June 5th at approximately 7.
20pm, IOF military jets fired two missiles at a car on Salah Al Din St.
heading for Jabalia Camp.
Two Palestinians were killed while two others in the car and two bystanders were injured; the car was completely damaged.
This happened despite the fact that it was reported that no local-made rockets had recently been launched and the situation had been fairly calm; the targeted car had even been moving away from the border area which revokes the IOF claims that their actions fall under the pretext of responding to attacks against them.
The victims are Emad Assaliya, 26, and Majdi Hammad, 25, while the wounded are Ismael Abu Jarad, 28, Ahmad Abu Jarad, 26, Ahmad Al Jamal, 24, Ameen Hamed, 25.
Al Mezan Center for Human Rights condemns the IOF's assassination crimes and confirms that field investigations prove the IOF's indifference towards civilians as they intentionally kill and injure Palestinians.
Al Mezan reiterates that these crimes constitute grave violations of International Law, most notably the Fourth Geneva Convention Relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War.
Thus, Al Mezan is highly concerned with the increasing IOF offensive, at a time when the international community is unable to provide protection to Palestinian civilians.
Al Mezan strongly condemns these crimes and emphasizes that the international community, most notably the High Contracting Parties to the Geneva Convention, should intervene to provide protection to civilians and properties and punish those who commanded the military actions and committed war crimes against Palestinians, as a part of the international community's ethical and legal duty according to the Fourth Geneva Convention Relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War.
