Remote paid internship available at Al Mezan: Legal Advocacy Intern


Al Mezan Center for Human Rights is a non-partisan, non-governmental human rights organization based in the Gaza Strip. Al Mezan was established in 1999 to protect and advance the respect of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territory, with a focus on economic, social and cultural rights in the Gaza Strip. Through legal initiative, advocacy and training, Al Mezan strives to protect the rights of vulnerable populations and victims of international law violations. Al Mezan gained special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council in 2010.

Duties and responsibilities:


The Legal Advocacy Intern will support the work of the International Legal and Advocacy Director and will fulfill the following main responsibilities:


  • Draft and edit press releases, reports, statements and submissions, including to UN bodies;
  • Support strategy development, planning and implementation of international advocacy;
  • Prepare advocacy missions/meetings;
  • Support outreach and communications with partner organizations and stakeholders;
  • Assist in management of legal/advocacy/visibility components of project work.




  • Excellent command of written and spoken English. Arabic is an asset;
  • Masters degree in human rights, international relations, law, political science or related field (or two years of experience in lieu of the degree);
  • Knowledge of the legal and factual circumstances in Palestine, and in the Gaza Strip in particular;
  • Experience in human rights and/or advocacy work;
  • Proactive, able to work independently, and possessing a keen attention to detail.




Al Mezan is offering a four-month internship and thorough insight into the advocacy and legal work of a dynamic, progressive and well-established Palestinian non-profit organization.
